Why Do the People Who Love You Still Play Mind Games?
Humans are psychologically wired to manage other people's behavior to get their own needs met, love doesn't turn that off. It happens because of: 1) the reciprocity norm, they did you a favor once and now expect an unspoken payback 2) loss aversion, they'd rather guilt you into staying close than risk losing you 3) the halo effect, they assume good intentions make the tactic okay. Good intentions don't cancel out control, name the tactic and it loses its grip.
The pattern behind it
Everyone runs games, even people who love you
Guilt, silence, and favors are all leverage
You confuse their intent with their tactic
Naming the game out loud breaks its power
Myth vs Reality
Myth
People who manipulate you don't actually love you
Reality
The people closest to you run the deepest games, because they think they know what's best
Knowing everyone plays games doesn't tell you which one is being run on you right now.
